I feel like its been ages since I looked at upcoming beauty products. There are so many new launches its hard to keep track but I've found a few things that I'm looking forward to.

Bourjois Primers
I'm really looking forward to Bourjois new products especially the primers, which are part of the happy light range. One primer is for mattifying and the other is for luminosity. There's also a luminous foundation, concealer, twist up volume mascara and erasable liner.

Beauty UK Posh Palette
Beauty UK are launching three palettes with ten shadows in each as part of the posh palette collection. The palette are priced £5.99 each and it will interesting to see how they compare to sleek and mua.

Benefit Rockateur Blush
Benefits new blush Rockateur is a rose gold shade with gold accents on the design. Its officially out in September but it has been on flash sale recently so you may just find it before then.

Nails Inc
Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish features four shades in mushroom, red, violet and mulberry. Priced £14 from August.

OPI San Francisco Collection
Twelve shades inspired by San Francisco with shades of greys, blues and garnets. You can see swatches here.

Ren Skincare
Ren are launching two new ranges from October - The Vita Mineral Range includes an oil, lip balm and moisturiser to hydrate and nourish. The Rose Centifolia range includes a cleansing foam, milk, water and balm to soften, tone and soothe.

From September, Liz Earle add a hand serum to their superskin line, which aims to soften and rejuvenate without feeling greasy. Also at the end of August, a limited edition version of cleanse and polish hot cloth cleanser in grapefruit and patchouli is launched and will be priced £19.75.

Do any of these catch your eye?!

An Oily Hair Saviour: Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two

Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two - £7.61*

As I suffer from an oily scalp, I'm quite fussy when it comes to shampoo. Lately I've been using Paul Mitchell's Shampoo Two - a deep cleansing shampoo for oily roots. Paul Mitchell are a cruelty free brand that I've used before so I had high hopes for this shampoo.
Shampoo Two contains wheat-derived conditioners to boost body and shine and is suitable for colour treated hair. The shampoo has a subtle lemon scent that smells clean and fresh. I try not to wash my hair every day as I feel it would make my roots oilier. Usually on the second day, my hair looks limp and I have to use a lot of dry shampoo. With this shampoo, my hair looks a lot cleaner for longer. I like that its a clear shampoo (for some reason I find clear shampoos work better) that foams and rinses easily. I dont find that it strips my hair of oil, it feels gentle but I use a conditioner on my ends anyway. For the price, I think this is a really good value shampoo for oily hair. I've used a lot of shampoo's catering for oily hair over the years and this is honestly one of the best I've tried!really impressed!

HTML Tips: How to leave a clickable link in blog comments

Leaving your blog link in a comment section is a great way to get your blog 'out there'. As a blogger, I like to see who's commenting and I've found some wonderful blogs not only in the comment section on here but also on other blogs too.

In the standard comment section of blogger/wordpress if you leave a link in the normal way it wont be a clickable link. So for example, if I were to comment on a blog post and leave this link underneath - http://www.sweetelectricblog.com
you cant click on it to see my blog, you would have to copy and paste the link into the bar (or enter it manually) at the top of your browser for my blog to show.

In order to leave a clickable link all you need to do is add a little html coding, so mine would be;

<a href="http://www.sweetelectricblog.com">Sweet Electric Blog</a>

or for your clicky link;

<a href="your blog link here">your name or blog name here</a>

Just delete the blue text and add your blog/website link and delete the yellow and add your name/site name.

This is how my link now looks in comments

Your blog link is now clickable so now it will take people straight to your site!

I hope this was helpful!

Nuxe Skincare

Very recently, I made an order with Nuxe Skincare as they were offering 30% off any order plus an extra 10% off for new online customers plus free delivery! A pretty sweet deal that I couldn't pass up on. On top of that they were including a mini trio deluxe set free with orders of at least two items and a mini deluxe sample of your choice. (This offer and the 10% off is still currently available alongside free UK delivery)
I've tried out the mini samples so here are my first impressions - they're all available in full size!

A moisturising cream for normal to combination skins, improves skin moisture levels whilst leaving a matte complexion. Protects against oxiditive stress - a skin aging factor.
Key ingredients include cocoa extracts - an anti-oxidant ingredient.
I've used this a few times, its feels light and refreshing without making my skin feel greasy. It is scented but I don't find it lingers. Would definitely consider buying the full size to use as a day cream. Full size £19.40

An alcohol free cleanser that removes makeup and eliminates impurities.
I've used this as my morning cleanser so haven't tried it as a makeup remover. It feels, light, refreshing and non sticky. My skin feels smooth and and soft after usage. I also love the rose scent, so I think I will be purchasing the full size. Full size priced from £9.50

A moisturising lotion that is instantly absorbed, leaving no greasy feeling to leave a nourished, satin finish.
Key ingredients include sweet almond oil and wheat extracts to add moisture.
Whilst this lotion soaks in quickly and leaves no residue, it has a strong scent that is far too overpowering for my liking. Not one I would consider purchasing. Full size priced £15.50

A shimmering dry oil to nourish and repair face, body and hair.
Ingredients include 6 oils and vitamin E to protect, soothe and soften.
This is a really light, non greasy oil that leaves my skin feeling really soft. I'm not a fan of the shimmer, although it would look great on tanned skin/ darker complexions. I wouldn't really get much usage from a shimmer oil apart from special occasions so this isn't really something I would buy but I would look into buying the non shimmer version. Full size from £21

I have some other Nuxe skincare products that I really love, such as the lip balm and rose petal cleansing milk so I do believe they're a brand worth looking at.

Have you tried any Nuxe products?

HTML TIPS: USING YOUR OWN BACKGROUND IN BLOGGER

Today I thought I would continue my html tips and tricks series (you can view the other posts by clicking here) by focusing on backgrounds! As I've said before, I'm not a professional web designer or anything but I've learnt a few things about html since writing this blog and thought it would be nice to share!
There is more than one way to add your own background but this is super easy!

For this tutorial, I'm going to use a simple blogger template. Firstly go to template designer in blogger - advanced - backgrounds - I'm going to change the outer background from blue to transparent and apply/save.

Next I'm going to find a seamless background - I recommend using a seamless background so it doesn't repeat itself

Some good free sites for backgrounds are;
patterncooler
ava7 patterns
fuckyeahseamlessbackgrounds
dinpattern
totally severe
squidfingers

I'm going to use one from squidfingers.
Upload your chosen background to an image hosting site, such as photobucket. Once uploaded, keep the page open.

Go to template designer in blogger - add css and add following code.

body { background: url(url of chosen image); background-color: none; }
.body-fauxcolumn-outer div { background: none !important; }

Make sure to delete the text in bright pink above and add the direct link of your chosen background.

Save template.

Your background will now show on your blog!

I hope this was helpful!

Ebay Beauty Bargains #3

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |

Ebay is one of my favourite places to shop for bargains. I haven't written an ebay post for a while so here is a little roundup of a few beauty items I've spotted recently. All prices include p+p which is a bonus!

Maybelline Color Sensational Popsticks Lipsticks  £2.74
I haven't tried these but I like the regular color sensational lipsticks. I get the impression that these add a wash of colour to the lips but for under £3 I think they're worth a try. The seller I've linked to has 4 shades but I have seen others on ebay too.

Revlon Nail Polish  £2.66
Revlon have some gorgeous shades of nail polish. These are so cheap!

Liz Earle Healthy Glow Cream Blush in Rose  £9.99
I've yet to try any Liz Earle cosmetics but I've read a lot of positive reviews on the range. This is a good price for the cream blush, though there's only one shade available but rose does look like a shade that would suit a range of complexions.

Sleek Hide It Concealer  £3.40
I'm a big fan of Sleek makeup!Sleek have a good range of shades in their base products. This concealer stick is great for covering blemishes or any imperfections!

Loreal Trio Eyeshadow £3.45
These trios look ideal for popping in your bag. I'm always looking at these in Boots and for under £3.50 I think I will definitely be buying one of these.

The Face Shop Blackhead Nose Clay Mask £3.48
I love the sound of this mask!I like clay masks in general but this one peels off once dried.

Elizabeth Arden Pretty 50ml £11.95
If I didn't already own this I'd be snapping it up - though I may buy a back up bottle. Its such a lovely, wearable fragrance. It's a very light, floral scent so its perfect for everyday wear. This is really cheap for a 50ml bottle!

Free Blogger Template!

Today I'm offering a free blog template that I recently made. I'm not a professional web designer but I enjoy making them and thought it would be nice to share. You can see a live preview here.

You are more then welcome to make alterations if you know how - I have some tutorials here and will be uploading some more shortly. All I ask is that you don't sell it on as your own work as that wouldn't be cool.
You don't need to use a header as the font is installed in the template but if you want to use your own all you need to do is upload it in the dashboard layout area of blogger - the widths of the template can be changed easily via blogger dashboard!

To get this template, just click download below - you'll need to unzip the file. Then upload the template via blogger dashboard!

Let me know what you think - I have some others too which I may share depending upon the response

That Blogging Mojo!

Your writing a blog and coasting along nicely and all of a sudden Bam! a lack of inspiration, enthusiasm and motivation hits you all at once. Yep, I'm talking about losing your blogging mojo. I know its something that happens to a lot of bloggers if not all at some stage and I think its perfectly natural. Though, I've blogged over the past few weeks, I'll admit its been a struggle. I have so many ideas going through my head and just had no idea where to start. Blogging is a hobby for me and still something I really enjoy. These last few days, I've felt really inspired and positive about blogging again and thought I'd share a few tips that have helped.

1. Its ok to take a break!
I think sometimes its better to take some time off then trying to plod through it (note to self - remember this!) and not feel 100% happy with the posts your writing. Obviously, its more difficult if blogging is your full time job but sometimes having a break and going out enjoying life can inspire you again.

2. Organisation
Whilst I have a notebook for blogging, I haven't really been using it but I've decided to start writing down all my ideas for blog posts and products that I want to write about. I've also made a 'blogging review drawer' in my helmer so I know which products I need to try etc. Its straightforward but it makes it so much easier to focus on.

3. Areas of Inspiration
If you're struggling for inspiration, looking for ideas can help. I really like pinterest, asking family and friends, even talking to other bloggers can really help.

4. Thinking outside the box!
Even though my blog is primarily beauty, I like to post about other things now and again. If you're stuck for ideas, why not post about other hobbies you have, things you like, blog about a day out/holiday, a food/recipe post..the possibilities are endless!

These are just a few things that's helped give me a push!

I would love to know if you have any tips for overcoming writers block!

Beautiful Summer Braids!

Right now, my favourite hairstyle for summer are braids or plaits. Its a really versatile style, whether its something that can be done fairly quick and easy like the blake lively style above or something that is more polished and requires a little more effort.
I've been mainly putting my hair into a side plait like the first picture - its great for keeping heat induced frizzy hair under control. Just put add a little hair serum and you're good to go.
Speaking of hairstyles, I'm really tempted to cut a fringe (or bangs if you're from the other side of the pond) but I'm not sure!last time I had a fringe, I was nine! Decisions!

A New Fragrance: Elizabeth Arden Untold

Today, I have Elizabeth Arden's first signature fragrance to share with you. Untold celebrates the individuality of the modern woman and the untold stories that define and inspire her.

The fragrance is a sophisticated, sensual, feminine scent that captures the different facets that make the modern woman intriguing.
Untold opens with notes of pink pepper, crisp bergamot and fruity accents of pear and blackcurrant to reflect optimism and playfulness. Delicate gardenia petals and Egyptian jasmine reveal romantic femininity, whilst sensuality and mystery is evoked by notes of sandalwood, ambers and musk.

Untold is a soft but sensual fragrance that lingers without overpowering meaning its perfect for daytime wear as well as evening. A floral, fruity scent that whilst isn't particularly groundbreaking would make a lovely fragrance for autumn/winter.

The beautiful glass bottle embodies the multi-faceted versatile nature of the modern woman. It looks really elegant and adds a hint of glamour to any dressing table.
I'm really surprised by how much I like this fragrance. Elizabeth Arden aren't usually my go to brand for fragrance but Untold is a beautiful soft floral scent.

*Untold is available from August 4th at Debenhams and 1st September Nationwide, priced from £35*

Beauty Love #2: Five Amazing Products!

I've been enjoying using quite a few products lately and I think for the first time ever I can honestly say that I'm going to repurchase everything featured in this favourites post!

I have a growing obsession with La Roche Posay. I bought the anti dryness concentrated shower cream to try and keep my skin as soft as possible. I use a body moisturiser too but I enjoy using shower gels and I try to use ones that feel gentle on my skin. The La Roche Posay Lipikar Surgras Ultra Rich Body Wash is soap and paraben free and gently cleanses to leave the skin feeling soft and hydrated. I like that it feels creamy and lathers well, though I don't think theres really much of a scent to it. I've almost run out so I'll have to re buy soon.

If there is one ultimate beauty product that is the top of my list in the past few weeks, its the dove conditioning leave in spray. I absolutely love this product, from the scent to the extra moisture it adds to my hair. My hair generally goes quite frizzy in summer but it seems to be much smoother since I started using this spray. It feels so weightless and can be used on wet or dry hair which makes it ideal to use if you're going on holiday too!

Instead of using baby wipes to remove my makeup (I know they're not great for your skin but I'm really lazy) I've been using the Loreal Micellar Lotion to take off my makeup. I was on the fence with this at first but I soon realised I was using far too much, making my face feel sticky afterwards. You really only need a small amount to remove all traces of makeup, it feels really light and refreshing and I much prefer it to Bioderma. For the price, I think the loreal solution is a much better option and I quite like the simplicity of the packaging too.

The Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm I'm currently using is a small sample that was free with last months Red magazine. I find the scent of this to be quite chemical but I really like that it makes my skin look bright and glowing without any greasy, oily feel to it. I like to use it under my makeup as a primer but you can also mix it with your base. The full size is expensive but its a product I would buy again as it makes my skin look lovely!

Chantecaille Blush in Joy - £23

Chantecaille is a brand I consider to be luxurious but I managed to pick this up in the recent Space NK sale for half price. Joy is the perfect matte pale pink shade for my skin tone. Its quite sheer so its a product you cant really go wrong with during application. It lasts all day, even in this heat and I love the packaging - a sliver chrome base and a matte rubber white lid. I cant find these on the Space NK site so I'm assuming they may have been discontinued but I definitely would buy a back up should I find one and its made me want to try more products from Chantecaille!

Have you tried any of these?

The New Beauty Box: Beauteco July 2013

I've had my fair share of beauty boxes in the past and I've always found them to be hit and miss depending on the brand but for 2013 there's a new beauty box in town - Beauteco.

Each month Beauteco offers three boxes each month - each box is slightly varied and is priced £10 plus P+P. As a subscriber you choose which one you would like to receive. Each box contains full size and deluxe sized samples with the box itself being 100% recyclable.

You can view May and June's boxes here. Today I have July's box to share with you.
This month's Beauteco box* contains brands including Neal & Wolf, Pukka, Art Deco, Accorelle and Eves of Agnes.

I have Box 2 which includes the following:

Neal & Wolf Elevate Volumising Lotion (full size) - worth £11.95
Elevate is designed to add volume, give more control and leave hair feeling stronger. This sounds ideal for me as I lack complete volume in my hair. I've been letting my hair dry naturally at the moment due to the hot weather but I'm definitely going to give this a go!

Neal & Wolf Harmony Intensive Care Treatment (full size) - worth £12.95
Created to repair damaged hair, leaving hair shiny, healthy and manageable. I've used this in place of my regular conditioner though I leave this in for around five minutes. This conditioner feels really luxurious and smells like Givenchy's Ange ou Demon fragrance. It left my hair feeling really soft and looking much smoother.

Pukka Radiance Serum (10ml sample size) - worth £6.40
A wonder serum that will leave your skin feeling fresh and bright. Free from parabens, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances and colours. I'm not familiar with this brand but I really like the sound of this serum and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Art Deco Soft Kajal Liner (full size) - worth £6.75
A soft and long lasting liner that's suitable for the inner eyelid. I've tried a few Art Deco shadows in the past and liked them and I've been wanting to try a few more products. I'm really glad to see this brand included.

Art Deco Shadow Base (full size) - worth £8
A neutral base to calm redness, ensure even shadow application and longevity of eye makeup. I've been looking for a new primer so this is perfect!I don't like the too faced primer and I've started to dislike the Urban decay primer potion as it feels really dry so I cant wait to try this one.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the Beauteco July Box. Every product appeals to me and for £10 the value of products is incredible. For four full sized items and one deluxe sample, I think its worth the box price.
If you want to know more about the Beauteco box you can have a look at the site here. I'm going to test the products I haven't tried out yet over the next few days so I'll let you know how I get on!

What do you think about this box?Yay or Nay!!

Vintage Cosmetics Brushes

As much as I love my cosmetics and skincare, I also have a growing love for beauty brushes! Recently I received a few things from Vintage Cosmetics who have recently launched in Boots. First up are a selection of their brushes.

The packaging of Vintage Cosmetics products is really pretty. I am a huge fan of anything floral/vintage/shabby chic so the packaging is completely up my street. The brushes have cream handles (you can also get them in pink) with the name of the brush printed on them.

The Vintage Cosmetics lash and brow brush grooms/styles brows and helps to create natural lashes by removing clumps of mascara.
This is pretty much your standard lash/brow brush. The lash brush is handy for mascara mistakes, whilst the brow brush feels sturdy but quite hard - its probably best for thick brows.

The blush brush is the ideal size for adding colour to the apple of your cheeks (I say perfect size as I find some blush brushes, such as Real Techniques are too big). It picks up product and distributes evenly. This brush is slightly on the scratchy side compared to other brushes I've used.

The concealer brush is ideal for  applying and blending concealer is small areas, such as under the eyes or around the nose. Its feels soft and helps to blend well.

Saving my favourite until last, the powder brush is the softest brush I've ever used. Made from natural   bristles, it did shed a few hairs upon first use but has been completely fine since. I love using this brush for setting powder, bronzer or highlighter. As its so soft, its handy for applying just a hint of product and blending seamlessly.

Cute Etsy Prints!

Etsy is one of my favourite sites for online browsing. There are some incredibly beautiful items on there and some seriously talented people!
I love looking at prints, especially typography prints - I'm currently redecorating, so I'm definitely looking into buying one of these. I'm tempted to make one of my own but I don't think it will turn out as good as these.

p.s I've re-designed my blog (again), I think it looks a bit more chic than before. I think I'll keep this one for a while as I'm really happy with the way its turned out!

Maxi Dress Love

Hola!I hope you're enjoying the sunshine. I spent the weekend enjoying my first barbecue of the summer and trying to keep cool.  In this scorching heat, I've been wearing my favourite maxi dress - a black bandeau one from Littlewoods many years ago. I've found quite a few pretty and affordable maxi dresses recently - I really like how flattering they are, so I thought I would share a few of my favourites!
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

My favourite is no 1, I've been eyeing this dress up ever since I found out Primark were being stocked by ASOS. Its only £10 too, which is a steal!!I love no 4 too which is reduced in the ASOS sale, though my size is out of stock boo!

Beautiful Blushes: Illamasqua Hussy & Lover!

I have a bit of a growing obsession when it comes to blushes. One of my favourite blushes is Illamasqua Naked Rose, which I reviewed here. Today, I have two more blushes from Illamasqua to share with you.

Illamasqua Hussy (left) and Lover (right) are both matte blushers. Like Naked Rose, the pigmentation of these is insanely good. Illamasqua Hussy is a bright candy pink, which looks pretty scary in the pan as its so bright. As I'm really pale, I only use a small amount with an angled blush brush and carefully apply.
Lover is a soft apricot with orange tones. Its not as bright as Hussy so I can get away with dusting more on my cheeks. Neither Lover or Hussy feel powdery or chalky, they blend easy and last for several hours, though I do find Lover starts to fade towards the end of a long day.

Illamasqua blushes are £18 but they're often on sale at ASOS or the Illamasqua website - I bought both of mine reduced and lover is currently £15 on the illamasqua site. I'm looking into buying a cream blush next as I'm really impressed with the powder formulation.

Have you tried any Illamasqua blushes?

Beauty Love #1

This past month, there have been so many products I've enjoyed using! That in itself is a rarity as I usually find it a bit difficult to put together monthly favourite posts so I've decided to make a new series featuring my current loves.
Firstly, I love the new Marc Jacobs Daisy Sunshine perfume* - you might be able to tell as its nearly empty. The original Daisy is one of my all time favourite fragrances and while this one is similar its more fruity than its predecessor. If you could put sunshine in a bottle than this would be it. It reminds me of hot summer days by the seaside. Moving on to a new eyebrow powder, my Smashbox brow tech kit recently ran out and I wanted to find a cheaper alternative. On a quick trip to Tesco for snacks (I always get sidetracked by the beauty isle) I found this Vivo matte eyeshadow reduced to £1. Its the perfect shade for my brows and lasts all day without fading. I know Vivo are an affordable brand anyway but I'm so pleased with this bargain.
I've mentioned Revlon's Nearly Naked foundation a lot but its my go to base on lazy days when I don't need a lot of coverage and want something light. I wear the lightest shade which is the perfect match for my skin tone and it blends seamlessly for what I call 'no makeup' makeup.
A product I've started using again is the Witch anti-blemish skin clearing primer. I find it controls oil fairly well, creates a smooth base and feels light. My skin has been clearer in recent weeks and I think this is one of the reasons why.
Skincare wise, the Origins plantscription anti ageing serum has become a new favourite. I only have a teeny tiny sample of it but I'll purchase the full size. I like that it feels light, non greasy and smooths the skin. It is pricey but its one of those products were a little bit goes a long way.
I couldn't write a beauty love post without featuring an Essie nail polish. Bikini so teeny is one of all time must haves. The nail brush is bigger than what it used to be so its easier to apply all over the nail. Formula wise, bikini so teeny only needs two coats.  A new purchase of mine is Trilogy rosehip oil. I've never used a facial oil before as I thought that putting oil on oily skin was a bad idea. That was until I read about the oil cleansing method and how oil can help balance your skin. So far I'm really like this oil. I only use a small amount but it feels light and nourishing. I've just started using it on a few old stretch marks - I may be beyond help here but I'm hoping it will help to smooth the area. We'll see!

Have you tried any of these?
