Green Tea | The Benefits

green_tea
Whilst this is a beauty blog, I do believe what goes into your body has an effect on your health and appearance.

I've been drinking green tea for several years. A few months ago, I wen through a period of being run down and as a result I switched a few things in my diet including cutting out caffeine (bar the odd glass of diet coke now and again). I usually drink around 3-4 cups a day and if I had to describe the taste, I'd say it tastes like a weak tea. Personally, I don't taste that much of a difference between decaffeinated and normal green tea though it does depend on the brand. I've tried a few brands over the years, with the nicest being twinings, clipper and tetley - tetley are often on offer in the supermarkets at 50 bags for £1 which is when I usually stock up!
Since upping my green tea intake to 3-4 cups daily, I've definitely seen some benefit - if I've had a cold it clears up in a few days whereas before it would linger for weeks. Green tea is packed with anti-oxidants which boosts the immune system. A few other noted benefits are linked with weight loss as green tea has been shown to boost metabolism, improving brain function and can aid against cancer, heart disease and cholesterol.
I've seen a few new 'flavours' of green tea recently - the gingerbread twinings version sounds really yummy though I think these have caffeine in.

Whats your favourite tea?

  5. Great post, I've always swore by Green Tea and speaking of Tetley I actually just bought a box of lemon + green tea to see how I like it compared to Twining as it's seemingly discounted more often than Twinings!

  12. Do you know if different blends of green tea work just as well? I have some jasmine green tea which tastes really nice but I wonder whether it has all the effects normal green tea does.

  15. I love green tea and although I love regular tea too, I find green tea is a lot lighter going! At the beginning of the year, I also decided to give up caffine and give it up completely! The best decaffinated green tea I've found as a replacement has to be the tetley one and I've found that I actually like the taste a lot better than the Twinings caffine version which I used to drink! I really think that I do feel better when I've been drinking lots of green tea :) xx

  16. Lover of green tea here as well :) I think you'll love white tea too (my favorite). They say white is higher in antioxidants and has 15mg of caffeine, compared to the 20mg in the average cup of green tea. But I rarely see decaf white tea around, so wondering if there are any in the UK .. Cheers to tea!
