5 ways to store your makeup brushes...

As nice as having makeup is, you need somewhere to store them. I seem to be constantly changing up my storage, depending upon practicality and whatever new find I come across. Today I thought I'd show 5 easy ways to store your makeup brushes.

Though somewhat of a blogger cliche, the Ikea Skurar Plant Pot is not only practical but super cheap too at less than £2 each. I have two of these to store my brushes in and they look really pretty. There are different sizes of pots and other products in the skurar range. These are definitely something to consider, if you have an Ikea near you.

Flat storage might not be the most practical option but I think that something like this shabby chic tray looks pretty if you dont own too many brushes and you have the space to put the tray. You can pick trays like this up at places home bargains, supermarkets and local homeware stores.

Another Ikea idea is using the mugs from the pokal range. These are only £1 each and come in a variety of colours. I originally bought mine to use for drinking purposes but I think they look really nice used as storage. Any kind of cup or mug is a good and inexpensive way to hold your makeup brushes.

For storing travel sized brushes, I like using candle holders as obviously they're shorter in height. I picked this one up from Dunelm Mill but other stores, such as Ikea, B&M, Home Bargains and even pound shops sell these cheap.

A final way to store your brushes is by using jars - sweet jars, a food jar (cleaned out) and kilner jars (you can get these fairly cheap at tk maxx) are all good choices. As jars are plain, I like using a little fabric or twine to decorate them to make them look a bit prettier.

How do you store your makeup brushes?

  5. I really like the tray storage idea although I'd end up covering it in makeup with dirty brushes. I store my makeup brushes in a plant pot/candle holder with beads that help them stay up right. X

  34. I actually store my brushes in pen/desk organizers, and I keep them in a Kallax with door inserts, main reason of having them inside little cabinets was to keep them away from dust.
In the past I had them stored in plant pots, looked nice but was not very practical and couldn't sort them properly as I now own over 200 brushes. :)
