Ebay Beauty Buys!

As I've mentioned before, I'm always on the lookout for a bargain with ebay being one of my favourite places to find a good buy.

New Beauty For March 2014

Wowee, where does the time go? March is almost upon us and I thought now would be a great time to look at what the beauty world has instore for us in the coming month.

The At Home Facial

Hands up, I've never been to a salon for a beauty treatment other than having my hair done. I guess there's something satisfying in being able to do your own diy job at home. At the end of a long day, I love taking my makeup off and being able to treat my skin to some TLC.

Liners for Every Budget

For something I use a lot, I rarely talk about liners. I've managed to find a few good liners both high end and high street. Here's my pick from my current crop.

A Guide to Beauty Shopping on Ebay

This post comes courtesy of some late night inspiration, when insomnia has taken over and my mind starts to wander. I've mentioned a few ebay finds on here before, so I thought perhaps a little post dedicated to ebay shopping might be useful.
I've been shopping on ebay for ten years and buying any product is a complete minefield. Beauty wise, its changed a lot over the last ten years but I still buy quite a few things on there as there are many bargains to be had. Today I'm going to run through a few of my tips for shopping for beauty.

1. Read the listing carefully
So you've found an item you want to buy or bid for. Always read through the listing carefully to make sure you know exactly what you're getting. For example, has it been used (I'm not sure if you're supposed to list used cosmetics but it happens), is it a tester, is it sealed etc.. The list goes on. If you have a question make sure you email the seller to clarify.

2. Look at feedback.
Look at the sellers feedback to see what kind of customer feedback they're getting. Generally, anything under 98% is considered quite poor but obviously it does depend on how many sales the sellers has made and what the negative feedback states. Its worth looking at both negative and neutral comments to see what customers are writing. However,do bear in mind that some customers are hard to please (yeah I went there, that what happens when you've worked in retail).

3. The 'fakes'
Ebay is rife with fake items. There are some brilliant copies out there that some people will have no idea that they've purchased a fake item. At this point in time, I personally wouldn't buy any MAC or Benefit items as I would say these are the brands with the most fakes out there. It is extremely unlikely that you would find a genuine Benefit concealer selling for £2.99 with free postage - sadly it just doesn't happen. I try and stand buy the rule that if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is but obviously there are genuine sellers out there.
To give you an idea of fake items here are some examples.

Here, there are differences in packaging - the Chanel name looks different from genuine chanel. The MAC lashes packaging is completely wrong. MAC don't make shadow palettes like the one above nor have they manufactured a lady gaga gloss line (there were only ever two available as part of viva glam).

If in doubt, google the item you're looking for and trust your instincts. Fake items can contain all kinds if ingredients so its better to be cautious.

4. Pay by paypal
I would say this with buying anything on ebay. Always make sure you only use paypal as you have buyer protection. No matter what the seller tells you - with bank transfer or cheque you have little to fall back on whereas paypal is safer.

5. Once You've Purchased
If you're not happen with your item, email the seller straight away to see if you can resolve your issue. Sometimes mistakes do happen and there are sellers out there who are more than happy to help. If you fail to resolve an issue with a seller, you can take up a case with ebay to try and establish an outcome.

Week in Beauty #8

I've been loving quite a lot of beauty products this week. Little shout out to wet wilds color icon trio in walking on eggshells which I've been wearing most of the week - amazing quality and cheap too!

Out with the Old...But Would I Repurchase?

I rarely seem to use products up that quickly. I don't know how..maybe I like to use every last drop (girls gotta get her moneys worth!).

Lazy Girl Makeup

beauty (1)
I have more than my fair share of days when I just really cant be bothered to do a full makeup routine. I would love to say that I go barefaced but if I'm heading out, I really don't want to scare people. So, I have a few products up my sleeve (well in my beauty stash) that are perfect for those 'make me up quick' days!

Top Tools: The ghd air!

Just before Christmas, I received the ghd air hairdryer*, which was good timing as my previous hairdryer was on its lasts legs. The ghd air has a sleek, professional look about it, so I couldn't wait to give it a whirl.

Great Skincare Under £10

Just like high street fashion, I'm a firm believer that you can find some gems in the 'drugstore'. When it comes to skincare, I will admit to being a little more fussier but I have found a few good skincare products that don't break the bank.

New CID I-Prime Foundation Primer

Primers are not really something that are high up on my list. I've only used one or two before as I tend to just moisturise before applying foundation.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio: Walking On Eggshells and Where To Find Them in The UK!

Some of my favourite beauty products happen to be bargain buys. I've been after the Wet n Wild Color Icon palettes for ages. I wish they were more readily available in the UK (I believe they're in Dunnes stores in Ireland) but I finally decided to track one down on ebay.

Spring Fling: My Beauty Picks!

Spring is in the air, I can feel it (or maybe its wishful thinking). I have a few products I'm looking forward to using in the upcoming season.

Bargain Buy:Loreal Color Infallible Shadows!

Sometimes a product gets a lot of love but it completely passes you by. This has happened with the Loreal Color Infallible Shadows.

The Not So Great...

Whilst I love finding beauty products I love, I often come across one of two things that underwhelm. Lately, theres been a few products that have completely disappointed.

Week in Beauty #7

This week has been all about looking forward to Spring. I am in love with my new accessories that I bought from Forever 21.

A Little Update & Zara Dupe!

As much as I love sharing beauty on here, I find it difficult to put more of a personal touch on it. I did think about combining different topics and making sweet electric more of a lifestyle blog but I kinda like having a focus on here. With that in mind, I've set up another little blog called of zoe  - cause err thats my name ;)
I forgot how scary it is setting up a new blog. I hope to post a few personal posts over there - a little food (note - my attempts at cooking!), favourite reads and day trips. I've kicked it off with a post on one of my recent favourite Primark finds - a dupe of the famous Zara city bag - you can read it here if you fancy a look!
I'll still be posting on here daily. I have a tonne of posts already planned and hopefully something exciting for the blogiversary next month!

Skin Saviours

Sometimes my skin needs a little bit more than my regular products can achieve. I've definitely noticed this recently. A cold + torrential weather + heating on full blast = not so great skin.

Orange Nails...

Orange hues are a big trend this season, particularly on lips. Personally, I find it easier to do colour on my nails than lips.

Bioderma Micellar Water Vs Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Theres always a few hyped up products in the beauty blogging world. One of the first I ever came across was the Bioderma Micellar Water.

Dream Cleansers...

My favourite skincare item are cleansers. I have quite a few favourite cleansers at the moment and love them each for various reasons.

In My Makeup Bag

It's been a long time since I showed the contents of my makeup bag on here. These are what I consider to be my everyday staples.

Week in Beauty #6

This week, I haven't worn a lot of makeup due to catching a bad cold and staying cocooned in my bed. Still, I've managed to try out a few things. As a blogger, its easy to write about the products you love and new discoveries.

An Ode to MAC Satin Taupe...

Oh MAC Satin Taupe, you bring it every time. As you can guess, satin taupe is my favourite MAC eyeshadow shade.

Love Me Beauty Box:February 2014

This month's Love Me Beauty Box arrived this morning - it comes around fast I'll tell ya. So far, I've been really impressed with Love Me Beauty's consistency, so lets see what this months box has to offer.

Primark Picks:Spring/Summer 2014

Primark are knocking it outta the park this season. There's quite a few things I've got my eye on. Some are pretty similar to versions I've seen in Topshop.

MAC Playland Collection 2014

MAC's Playland collection is a mix of casual colour, lipsticks and pigments.

New MAC Collections 2014

I've just found some info on a tonne of new MAC collections and rather than spam your feed with a load of posts, I figured it would be better to pop everything in one huge post (bar one big collection).

Week in Beauty #5

This weeks beauty choices have been a mixed bag. A base product I've returned to using is Becca's Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation.

MAC By Request 2014 Winners

photos by makeupandbeautyblog - edited by me

Last year, facebook voting got underway to decide the products for 2014 By Request collection. Lipsticks, lipglasses and shadows featured are repromotes and limited editions, originally from 90's and 00 collections. Now the winners are in and from April, the following will be able to purchase again.
